Description
Tyrannosaurus rex, decked out in the facial integument inferred for the newly named Daspletosaurus horneri, and all tyrannosaurids apparently, by Carr et al. 2017. The official reconstruction was rather lacking in feathers for some reason, but surely a feathered tyrannosaurid with a face that looks like a broken pavement would be a good bit weirder looking than just a plain old scaly one? I certainly think so.
Whether the idea holds up to scrutiny has yet to be seen, but as far as I'm concerned there's no harm in illustrating a new idea. Makes the field a bit more fun, doesn't it?
